The 2015 AIChE Spring Meeting featured the Kister Distillation Symposium. There were 7 sessions and 45 papers in the Symposium over 4 days. The Symposium kicked off with an honors session for Elzear Lemieux Sr, who was the M.W. Kellogg distillation expert and served for 15 years on the FRI Technical Advisory Committee from 1960-1975. FRI presented a paper on the bibliography of Elzear Lemieux, which can be found here. The entire Kister Symposium was extremely well attended with record attendance near 100.
The Atlanta AIChE meeting was held from Nov 16-21, 2014.
The New Orleans meeting featured an invited session in honor of Michael R. Resetarits, FRI's technical director. Invited speakers of the session were Henry Z. Kister, Daniel R. Summers, Ralph Weiland, Lowell Pless, Robert J. Miller, James R. Whiteley, and Tony J. Cai. The session had a peak attendance of 90 attendees. At the May 2013 Technical Commitee meeting in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, Dr. Tony Cai summarized FRI's latest results regarding FRI's study of kettle reboiling. Dr. Cai's model for hydraulic flood point predictions has now been corroborated three different (independent) ways. FRI's testing of its kettle in thermosiphon mode has some chemical and petroleum companies extremely interested. FRI will be holding Kettle Reboiling symposia in Galveston, Texas, USA on October 2, 2013 and in Tokyo, Japan on November 20, 2013. Interested in attending these beneficial sessions?
