SAFETY/HEALTH WITH MOBILE DEVICES

We are all “addicted” to our mobile devices in one way or another.  There are two health/safety issues, among many others, that are pet peeves of mine:

  1. Walking and looking in your phone.  This is akin to texting and driving.  I just say a young lady at a crowded airport run into an electric cart while walking in a crowd staring at her phone.  She was not hurt but she proceeded to berate the driver of the cart even when she walked into it and the cart had stopped!
  1. Use of the phone at odd hours.  I am responsible for this one.  Looking at my phone in the middle of the night.  The problem is that it takes longer for me to fall back asleep after I do.  I have realized that first I am not that important that something needs my attention at 3 am and second that it does affect the quality of my life negatively.  So, I have been trying to minimize such use, but like with any addiction, it is tough.  I think phone should have an option where only phone calls can be accepted between say 11 and 6 and that the Internet connection and other apps are disabled during that time. (By the way, I would wish that the “Reply All” option in Microsoft is eliminated as well)
